I am currently an Administrative Officer for Research Service at the Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA with over 20 years of experience in Research Administration. As Administrative Officer, I assume full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Research and Development (R&D) Administrative Office. I am responsible for supervising personnel, preparing annual budget projections and spending plans for VA-funded research grants for the R&D Service, develops and maintains tracking mechanisms for research funding and expenditures, and maintains communication with the Facility Director, Chief of Staff, VISN Leadership, Regulatory Agencies and Academic Affiliate (Virginia Commonwealth University) regarding matters pertaining to VA R&D.
I am a native of Richmond VA, the second oldest of six. I was raised in church where I was taught the value of relationship with God, serving and loving others. I graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond VA and went on to receive an Associate of Arts Degree in Computer Science from National Business College in Roanoke, VA. I served 8 years in the United States Army (Ft. Lewis WA and Germany). Training and certifications include Sponsored Programs Administration Certification, Clinical Research Contract Professional (CRCP) Certification, Grace E. Harris HIGHER Ground Women’s Leadership Development Program. Volunteer work includes Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Jobs for Life, and Feed More. I currently serve as a Board Member and Secretary for My Brother’s Keeper of Greater Richmond.
Personal interests include solving puzzles, traveling, working with children and spending time with family.
